Home Sweet Home - Safe and Sound

Hi everyone - We are HOME and we are a little tired so I am going to make this short. The good news is Eliza is infection free. Bless her little heart - she put up with so much the last 48 hours but pulled through like a little champ as we knew she would. She HATED the isollete - she loves to be held and I could only take her out to nurse her and and those darn goggles kept on sliding down over nose, around her neck - it was a disaster but luckily her BR levels dropped so we could take her out and she could sleep in a bassinet without the lights! She was a much happier camper.

We chalked up the last 48 hours to a case of jaundice which is now cured and her inability to maintain her body temp.... pretty common in preemies - the trick is getting her warm enough without over heating her ... so that's where we are - home. Eliza is sleeping and I am hoping to be soon.

Thank you for your continued prayers and I will post more tom. and will add some new pictures.
Love to you all
Caroline, Eric, Eliza and Suzy

so happy to hear she is infection free and that you are all home safe and sound. i remember with anderson, we had to keep him bundled and a little hat on him most of the time for the first 2 weeks or until he got to like 7 or 8 lbs..i can't remember which....it is common for preemies to have a hard time regulating their temps. im SO happy all is well. get some sleep girl and can't wait to see more pics! love you!

Thanks for the update Caroline - now go get some sleep!! So glad you guys are home and able to sleep in your nice warm beds.

Even though Drew wasn't a preemie, he had jaundice bad too and we had to stay an extra night in the hospital. I pull out his goggles every so often to show him. Lots of tears shed over watching him soaking in the rays so I can sympathize, but Drew laughs when I show him the pictures. Eliza will too one day. Can't wait to see more pictures!!

Love you! Amber

Dorthy had it right when she said "There's no place like home!"...That line takes on NEW meaning when you are comparing it to the hospital!!!! ...and just in time for Eric to catch the Tarheels beat up on Florida....Eliza is already a good little Tarheel!
